Home again, home again...

Got home tonight around 5:30. The only casualty of our trip was a very sickly looking hibiscus that had been blooming profusely before we left. Hopefully a little water will have it back into shape by morning.

Anyhoo...

GREAT sessions and exhibit hall at ATIA. I was able to attend some last minute sessions and check out some very cool software and hardware.

Here are a few tidbits for you:

1. Don Johnston was showing a beta-version of Co:Writer for the NEO! This has been eagerly anticipated and should be available this spring.

2. I sat down and played with some new software that is going to be a competitor for Boardmaker. Language Master Software is a very simple, very flexible symbol application that can create boards much like Boardmaker and SDPro. However, it has some very nice features for students that are moving up the symbol hierarchy. With the click of a button, you can change your symbols from photographs, to simple color or black-and-white line drawings, to complex line drawings. It also has some great language features. This is a poor description of this software, so I'll post about it by itself in the near future.

3. I found out what the difference was between Boardmaker Plus and SDPro! As it turns out, Boardmaker Plus is virtually the same with the exception of not offering word prediction, abbreviation expansion, and high-quality voices. Simple enough!

There is much more to share, and I'll try to post information throughout the week.

Florida was gorgeous, but even though we had snow and cold up here, it's good to be home!
